This video was filmed at St John the Baptist Church in Hope Bagot rises like a keeper of memory, its stones weathered by centuries, standing beside a venerable yew whose roots reach back to the Roman age, and near the quiet blessing of a holy well. The churchyard, tended with patience and tradition, is allowed to breathe and bloom until midsummer, when scythe and rake gently gather what has flourished.

In the first warmth of the season, the ground becomes a silver sea of oxeye daisies, their brightness softened by the purple of selfheal, the golden shimmer of rattle, and the buttercup’s glow. As summer deepens, devil’s-bit scabious, betony, and black knapweed rise to join the chorus. More than a hundred plants and sixty kinds of fungi have revealed themselves here, each a note in the hymn of this living sanctuary.

The churchyard is not only a resting place but a realm of wildflowers and birdsong, a haven where creatures find shelter and visitors find peace. Beneath its graceful lychgate, one steps into a space of stillness—an invitation to linger, to breathe, and to let contemplation take root.
