In the wake of the News of the World phone hacking scandal, six senior staff and journalists who worked for The Sun, known as the "Sun Six", were charged with conspiring to commit misconduct in a public office after they allegedly bribed police, prison officers, and soldiers etc. for information. During the trial, Ben O'Driscoll (deputy news editor) claimed that The Sun had a 7ft high safe full of "eye-popping" photos, videos and reports of celebrities, MPs and members of the royal family, that had never been published, even though they would inevitably boost sales.
