A gentle strength-based yoga practice using a chair and light weights, designed to support joint stability, reduce inflammation, and help you move with more ease. This class is suitable for anyone experiencing joint discomfort, chronic pain, perimenopausal symptoms, illness recovery or simply wanting a supportive, steady strength practice.
Why using weights is powerful:
Using weights in your practice helps increase muscle mass and build strength, especially in ways yoga alone doesn’t fully challenge — such as pulling movements or progressive resistance beyond your body weight. Lifting weights also stimulates bone density, supporting long-term bone health and helping reduce the risk of osteoporosis. Like yoga, resistance training benefits mental health and cognitive function, giving a holistic boost to body and mind.
What you need:
• A chair
• 1–2 light hand weights (or water bottles)
• A non-slip surface
• A yoga block or thick book
• Props for rest
Move only in a pain-free range — a little effort is welcome, but stop if you feel sharp stabbing pain, numbness or dis-ease in your body.
