Описание: The Crescent City Connection is a dual-span cantilever truss bridge that spans the Mississippi River at downtown New Orleans. The farthest downstream bridge across the Mississippi, it is among the busiest bridges that crosses the great river.

The first span was completed in 1958 and was known as the “Greater New Orleans Bridge”. It carried two lanes of traffic each way plus a center emergency lane. The need for additional highway capacity across the river at New Orleans resulted in the construction of a second span that was completed in 1988 and was built a few hundred feet downstream from the first span. It carries 4 lanes of downtown-bound traffic plus two reversible HOV lanes. Following completion of the 2nd bridge, the first bridge was reconfigured to carry four lanes of West Bank-bound traffic. When the 2nd bridge was completed, the crossing was renamed “Crescent City Connection” following a public naming contest in 1989.

NOTE: To eliminate confusion among viewers, the Crescent City Connection and Pontchartrain Expressway segments of I-910/US 90 BUSINESS are listed on this site as "inbound" (to downtown)/outbound (from downtown)" as opposed to "eastbound/westbound", respectively.

NOTE: The "outbound" lanes of US 90 BUSINESS/I-910 along the Pontchartrain Expressway are also known locally as the "river-bound" lanes.
