General Information

Sri Raghavendra Theerthara sanyasa ordination took place at Vadavaru River bank of Thanjavur in 1621, in the presence of “Shri Raghunatha Bhoopal” a Nayaka King

Here Rayaru did 12 years of deep penance after sanyasi sweekara.

During later period, Vijayaraghava Nayak faced so many problems and hence wished Rayara presence in his Kingdom.

Just after the Brindavana pravesha of Sri Raghavendra Swamy at Mantralaya , the king had a dream in which Guru Rayaru appeared in his dream and asked him to construct the Brindavana.

Shri Raghavendra himself appeared in the form of a Five Headed Serpent and helped to identify the place to build the Brindavana. Hence it is Sarpa-Peeta Brindavana of Sri Rayaru.

As instructed by Rayaru, there is no ceiling over Brindavana.

There is no Mrithika consecrated in this brindavana during prathistapana as Rayaru himself wished to live here through his brindavana.
