In this video, we explore how to work with naturally unusual plant movement — the kind of expressive lines you can only find by going outside and noticing how stems twist, curve, or lean as they age. Using fading sunflowers, one fully bloomed and one nearly finished, this arrangement embraces imperfection, asymmetry, and tension across the full surface of the table.
With the help of a strong Kenzan base, subtle wiring, and a compact floral mass for visual balance, we create a dialogue between two stems — full of contrast, relationship, and emotion.
🌿 What you’ll see:
— Choosing plant material with organic, expressive movement
— Using Kenzan for strong counterbalance in wide horizontal lines
— Wiring flowers for compact massing at the base
— Working with fading or end-of-life blooms in a meaningful way
— Exploring visual dialogue and tension between elements
This is a beautiful reminder that movement isn’t always engineered — sometimes it’s already there, waiting in nature. Our job as ikebana artists is to find it, highlight it, and let it speak.
