An IAF aircraft fired missiles at a building in Rafah that housed Ra'ad Atar and Muhammad Abu Smalla, killing them both.
Abu Smalla was the most senior Hamas leader in southern Gaza and Ra'ad Atar was a senior member of the military wing. Both had been responsible for many attacks on Israel.
During a speech on Wednesday, Netanyahu said that no military commanders were invincible and that the operation will continue.


Rocket barrages continued to hit Israel throughout Wednesday and Thursday.
Over 175 rockets were fired into Israel on Wednesday, and into Thursday morning the barrages continued, setting off rocket sirens throughout southern Israel.
The IDF reported that one civilian in Nahal Oz had been injured and some property damage had been sustained.
Hamas vowed revenge against recent airstrikes in Gaza and even threatened in a televised address on Wednesday night to attack Ben Gurion airport on Thursday.

Hamas's military wing said on Wednesday that an Israeli airstrike in Gaza had failed to kill its military commander, Mohammed Deif.
In a televised statement, a masked spokesman for Hamas’ military wing said Israel had missed its target and failed at killing him.
Conflicting media reports arose on Wednesday, some saying that Deif could in fact have been killed but Israel had no official comment.

A senior Hamas official admitted for the first time on Wednesday that the organization's armed wing was behind the kidnapping and murder of 3 Israeli teens in June.
