N N - Very insightful ! Love it ! This movie is also an incredible aesthetic experience : like a Caravaggio tenebroso painting with light and obscurity.
I remember thinking there were some references to all the freudian "killing the father " theory but your analysis on the link to greek mythology made me revisit some myths from the primal genesis with Ouranos and Kronos : the phallic aspect of the lighthouse, the movements of up and down, ascending and descending, accessing the light, etc.
