A Profit-Sharing Plan Is Similar to A 401(k), as they are both retirement plans that employers can contribute to.
But here’s the main difference between them:
With a 401(k), employees are allowed to make personal contributions, which are sometimes matched by the employer up to a certain amount.
In a profit-sharing plan, the employee cannot make any personal contributions, as all of the money is paid out from the company’s profits.
