Main Story:
The player takes control of a Tarnished, whose goal is to restore the shattered Elden Ring. Shortly after emerging in Limgrave, the Tarnished encounters a maiden named Melina. Since the Tarnished is at a disadvantage by not having a maiden, Melina offers to take that role, gifting the Tarnished an ability to turn Runes into strength and a steed named Torrent. In exchange Melina wants the Tarnished to take her to the base of the Erdtree, the home of the Elden Ring. Melina later takes them to the Roundtable Hold, a gathering place for other Tarnished seeking to repair the Elden Ring led by Sir Gideon Ofnir the All-Knowing. The Tarnished earns an audience with the Two Fingers, whose speaker,Enia, informs the Tarnished that to access Leyndell, Royal Capital, where the Erdtree is, they must hunt the Demigods for their Great Runes
Aided by Gideon, the Tarnished travels thru the Lands Between to hunt the Demigods. These include the insane Godrick the Grafted, who rules over Limgrave in his castle and is protected by the mysterious Margit, the Fell Omen; the mentally broken Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, who is locked inside the Academy of Raya Lucaria at Liurnia of the Lakes; Starscourge Radahn, who was left feral and mindless after a battle with Malenia, Blade of Miquella in Caelid; Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, who rules over Volcano Manor; and Mohg, Lord of Blood, who has secretly kidnapped Malenia's brother, Miquella, and resides in his hidden palace.

Summoning spirits is a core component of gameplay. The spirits can be acquired, leveled up, and upgraded in different ways and can take on a variety of forms

Differences to past Dark Souls games:
If you are used to the spiritual predecessor games of Elden Ring aka Dark Souls trilogy, there are differences between them and Elden Ring that you should be aware of (in comparison to Dark Souls 2)

Multiplayer mode can be disabled right from the start
The red NPC player-like invaders do still exist; you'll know you're about to get invaded by one when the sky goes red, the music gets ominous, and if riding Torrent , it is automatically despawned and blocked from being called
Weapons and armor no longer get degraded or need repair
Your character can now jump vertically, allowing for much better vertical climbing. Not only this, you get a mount Torrent which not only can double-jump but also can do a super-jump from specific magical points, allowing for a great deal of vertical exploration
Spells are no longer set as distinct clusters of ammunition/shots. More akin to traditional mages in other games, you have a generic mana pool (called FP) that can be spent on any spell you have memorized
With the change to spell fuel, you now have two separate healing flasks: one for HP and one for FP. You have a universal charge pool that is initially 3 charges, and you can allocate them between the two flask types at will at a rest point
Regions can no longer be exhausted of enemies.In Dark Souls 2 if you died, rested, and killed the same enemy 12 times they'd stop spawning, letting you to systematically cut the defenses of an area (but making your income finite so losing a dropped stockpile is especially painful),Elden Ring's bosses do not respawn. In compensation, not only are areas less "dense" with enemies, but your healing potions can have a charge regenerated by killing a close group of enemies, giving you much better fighting endurance between rest points.
Since enemies don't exhaust,a double death will lead to a stockpile of Runes (Souls) no longer catastrophic nor loss of income but more of a safer yet annoying delay in progress
Torch is now unlimited


Fan of George R.R. Martin, Hidetaka Miyazaki called him and offered to work together on a project.Martin was given full creative freedom to write the backstory and foundation of the game's universe. ER began development in 2017 after the final DLC for Dark Souls III. Elden Ring was announced at E3 2019. The soundtrack was composed by Yuka Kitamura, who's composed songs for FromSoftware
