IMIA 2025 Where Cartography Meets Industry: AI and the Mapping Community

Описание: IMIA hosted its free annual Where Cartography Meets Industry virtual event on March 6, 2025. This gathering of top leadership from IMIA and its affiliate organizations the British Cartographic Society (BCS), the Cartography and Geographic Information Society (CaGIS), the International Cartographic Association (ICA), and the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) provided a useful primer on current AI applications and implications for the mapping community.

The conversation covered generative AI usage, GeoAI elements, community mapping projects, impacts on traditional map/GIS markets, and the current nature of what it means to be authoritative. The panel discussion was followed by a live Q&A and breakout rooms to connect and share thoughts among colleagues.
