The Automatic Opening Vents (AOVs) being installed on the north end of Barandon Walk are almost fully operational.
The video shows just how effective the rain sensors are in picking up even the slightest drizzle. Rain sensors are an essential feature of Automatic Opening Vent (AOV) systems, helping to keep interiors safe and dry while ensuring the system performs its job seamlessly. By detecting rain and signaling the vents to close, these sensors prevent water from entering the building without interfering with the system’s primary purpose: ventilation and safety.
Once rain is detected, the AOV system acts immediately. The vents close to protect against water ingress, but there’s a smart failsafe built in. If there’s ever smoke detected, the system will always prioritise safety, overriding the rain sensor to keep the vents open for smoke ventilation. This ensures the building is protected from both rain and potential emergencies.
Modern rain sensors are designed to be low-maintenance and highly reliable. They come with features such as self-cleaning or heated surfaces to prevent dirt, frost, or ice from interfering with their performance. A Regular servicing schedule will also keep everything in top condition, so you can rely on them to do their job when needed.
These sensors are a great example of how technology can make life easier. By keeping your AOV system responsive to changing weather conditions, they ensure your building stays comfortable, safe, and dry.
