Gizzard shad storm the shore at Mangrove Sandy Beach — and the queenfish go absolutely wild!
A massive baitball blitz erupted as millions of shad packed the shallows, triggering an intense queenfish feeding frenzy just meters from the sand. Watch the action unfold as ultralight gear gets tested to the edge.
🎣 Gear Used: Shimano Miravel coupled to a Seahawk Flexis Light 6.6ft rod
🧵 20lb jigging braid with a 25lb Yo-Zuri pink fluorocarbon leader
🪱 4.7g red-head swim bait
📍 Location: Mangrove Sandy Beach, Abu Dhabi
💡 Fun Fact:
Gizzard shad (Dorosoma cepedianum) are filter-feeding baitfish known for forming dense schools that attract larger predatory species. While native to North America, similar schooling behavior is seen in regional species — making them a favorite snack for queenfish, trevally, and other nearshore predators!
