In this video, I’m sharing a project I completed as part of the Mechatronics System Design unit at Swinburne University of Technology. My name is Atiqur Rahman, and I’m a final-year student in Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering.
Together with my teammate Mohammad, we designed and built an automatic pick-and-place robotic arm from the ground up. This project involved integrating mechanical design, electronics, and automation programming to create a fully functional mechatronic system.
Throughout the semester, we applied theoretical knowledge using industry-standard tools like SOLIDWORKS for 3D modeling and LabVIEW for programming and control system design. We handled everything from mechanical fabrication and circuit wiring to developing control algorithms and conducting real-time system testing.
A big thank you to our unit convenor, Jinchuan Zheng, for the invaluable guidance and support during this project.
P.S: I initially recorded videos out of nervousness that the prototype might fail or get damaged — I wanted proof of completion! But thankfully, our final demonstration went smoothly and successfully.
If you’re interested in robotics, automation, or mechatronics engineering, this video will give you a glimpse into what it takes to design and build a real-world robotic system as part of an engineering course.
Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more engineering projects and insights!
