The Taliban regime is under heavy pressure. Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq after rising cross-border attacks.
Pakistan says it has killed hundreds of Taliban fighters and destroyed dozens of posts deep inside Afghanistan. Air and ground strikes hit at least 46 locations and captured key positions.
Taliban leaders called for talks, but Islamabad refused until violence stops.
Kabul is tense as both sides trade fire. Diplomatic efforts by regional powers have so far not stopped the conflict.
Some analysts say the Taliban made a serious strategic error by escalating attacks on Pakistani territory. This has widened the crisis and weakened their control inside Afghanistan.
