5 Things I stopped worrying about since moving to San Diego

1️⃣ I stopped checking the weather every morning.
I swear the sun shines most days and the temp is between 60-75 degrees, 350+ days per year.
2️⃣ Finding outdoor activities
Tired of scrolling, or want to get outside before/ after work? Easy. Everything from a walk on the beach, to hiking the mountains is easily accessable. Personally, I love surfing, biking, playing pickleball, taking walks at sunset with my wife… possibilities are seemingly endless.
3️⃣ Does a 20 minute rain storm count as a hurricane or tornado?
The weather is incredibly mild here. Does it get much better? I laugh when people bust out parkas in the winter, and it's 50 degrees out. FREEZING. Rain storms? We've had a few "bad" seasons lately. And they only consisted of 1-3 weeks of rain the ENTIRE YEAR.
4️⃣ Traffic? No, you've got it wrong.
Trust me, this is NOT LA. Sure, if you plan a trip to LA at the wrong time it could take you 4 hours to get there instead of 1.5-2. But here in San Diego, traffic isn't horrible. There are times of the year where if you're commuting downtown from north county, rush hour could back up a LITTLE bit. Maybe adding 10-15 minutes to your commute. NOT hours. During the summertime when the fair comes to Del Mar, sure, there's a little bit of traffic. But most of the year this is not something we worry about here.
5️⃣ Pace of life.
This is HUGE for me. I don't mind getting dressed up for work, but when we go out to dinner with friends, most of the time I'm wearing Vuori pants and a T-Shirt. The idea of the rat race doesn't seem to exist here. Even BEFORE the days of Covid- It didn't seem like anyone worked a full time job around here. I could go surfing at 11am and if there were waves, there was a mild crowd. Meeting new friends could not be easier. From run clubs, to business networking groups, weekly group bike rides, boutique fitness studios on every corner (from every type of discipline you could imagine)…. the laid back, easy going vibe is STRONG here. I absolutely love it.
Moving to San Diego years ago was the best decision I could have made. A life of living outdoors year round in a safe, friendly and family oriented place.
