This is the first in a series of 13 weekly uploads capturing all 12 Character Pieces for Violoncello Solo
'Character Piece No. 1' is a fast bowing exercise with sudden changes in dynamics (terraced dynamics) to create an echo effect. One of the aims of this piece is to keep the arpeggio figure going, while bringing to the fore the accentuated notes in the lower register.
