This '49 DeSoto was at one time owned by famed car collector Gene Ellingson, founder of the Ellingson Car Museum. Mr. Ellingson sold this car to its most recent owner who has decided to sell the car once again after 15+ years of ownership. Under the hood of this DeSoto is a 236.7 Cubic Inch L-Head 6 Cylinder engine which is mated to a Gyrol Fluid Drive 3 Speed Manual with Tip-Toe Shifter. What makes this transmission special is that, as DeSoto put it, the transmission "lets you drive without shifting." This Mopar sits on 4 Kelsey-Hayes Wire Wheels with whitewall tires, giving this car that truly classic look. The previous owner of this DeSoto Convertible had the car repainted in what is believed to be its original Andante Green color which continues to presents quite well today. The chrome and brightwork on this DeSoto Custom is in very nice shape. The tan canvas power convertible top is in excellent condition.. The green vinyl and broadcloth bench seat interior is in fantastic shape, along with the dash, steering wheel, and interior trim accents.
