Raspberry Pi 4 on UBUNTU MATE 20.10 - update your EEPROM (bootloader) manually

$sudo apt install rpi-eeprom

***** check if “BOOT_ORDER=0xf41” = SD first then USB
$rpi-eeprom-config

$sudo pluma /etc/default/rpi-eeprom-update

Make sure “default” or “stable” are already there.
Save and close the file.

Download new “stable” firmware from: "https://github.com/raspberrypi/rpi-ee...".


Move that firmware to the “stable” folder by dragging it into place:

$sudo caja /lib/firmware/raspberrypi/bootloader/stable/

$sudo rpi-eeprom-update

If an update is available you can install it by:

$sudo rpi-eeprom-update -a

Now reboot the system.
