A female employee was pushed inside a lift at AIIMS Bhopal by a masked man, who then snatched her mangalsutra within seconds. The incident was caught on CCTV footage and took place in a lift located behind the blood bank.
The victim, identified as Varsha, was alone in the lift while on duty when a young man wearing a mask entered. According to reports, the accused pretended to strike up a conversation and asked her about a medical department to avoid suspicion.
As the lift reached the third floor, the man stepped out but suddenly turned back and attempted to snatch her mangalsutra. Varsha resisted, following which the accused pushed her and fled towards the staircase, managing to escape with the mangalsutra.
No security guard was present in the lift area at the time of the incident. The victim later contacted the Bagsewania police station to report the incident. The robbery caught on camera went viral online and triggered concerns about the safety of patients and staff inside government hospitals.
