Sado (Symphonic Poem)
Sado is a symphonic poem composed by Tajik-Russian composer Tolibkhon Shakhidi in 1984. The work blends traditional Tajik musical motifs with Western orchestral forms, showcasing Shakhidi’s skill in merging Eastern and Western musical influences.
The piece lasts about 9 minutes and has been performed by prominent ensembles such as the London Symphony Orchestra and the Mariinsky Orchestra under the baton of conductor Valery Gergiev. It was released on the Melodiya label as part of a collection of Shakhidi’s works.
Sado reflects Shakhidi’s modern compositional style, combining rich orchestration with cultural heritage to create a distinctive contemporary classical sound
