Yinchuan's urban area mainly consists of three districts: Xingqing District, Jinfeng District, and Xixia District. The boundary between Xingqing and Jinfeng Districts is primarily the Tanglai Canal, while the boundary between Jinfeng and Xixia Districts is the Baotou-Lanzhou Railway line. Xingqing District is the old city commercial area, Jinfeng District is the administrative area, and Xixia District is the university town industrial area.
