As an expert on mega-projects, she not only defines the characteristics of complex projects, but she also instructs on how to respond to complexity. Using her experiences on Boston's Big Dig, she shows, through example, the many different, unknown, unforeseen obstacles that come with a large-scale project and ways to overcome or avoid them altogether. Her experiences and from the Big Dig are also detailed in her book "Megaproject Management: Lessons on Risk and Project Management from the Big Dig."
