“The Iraqi Air Force started operating an airbridge to the city of al-Areesh (in Egypt). This bridge contains Iraqi planes loaded with food to our people in Gaza. This is a small fraction of what we could send them to compensate them for the tyranny and injustice that they are experiencing at the hands of the Zionist entity."

STORYLINE:
Iraq provided a shipment of aid bound for Gaza on Monday, flying it to Egypt, which shares a border crossing point with the enclave.
Gaza’s over 2 million Palestinians still face a humanitarian crisis more than 12 weeks into a ceasefire.
The U.N. has said that although famine has been staved off, more than a quarter of families still eat only one meal a day and food prices remain out of reach for many; more than 1 million people need better tents as winter storms lash the territory.
The Iraqi aid, mostly made up of food parcels, is being transferred by an Iraqi air force cargo plane to the Egyptian city of el-Arish.
The aid is only a "small fraction" of what the Palestinians need, said Tahsin al-Khafaji, the Iraqi Defense Ministry's media director.
More aid has been reaching Gaza since the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas took effect on Oct. 10.
However, the flow of humanitarian aid remains challenging amid Israel’s recent decision to revoke the licenses of more than three dozen organizations, including such prominent groups as Doctors Without Borders, the Norwegian Refugee Council and Oxfam.
