EV range loss without pre-heat in -17°F (-27°C) weather. Cold morning drive in 2020 Chevy Bolt EV.

Описание: During an Arctic Blast it got a little colder around here. A good time to test how much range we would use to drive about 25 miles with our electric car. For the test we use our 2020 Chevrolet Bolt LT electric car. Driving it from home to a job site in rural Montana. Driving the first and last few miles at slower speeds of around 35 to 40 mph, while in between driving about 16 miles at 80mph on the Interstate. We did not pre-heat the car but it was plugged in over night. Since it was plugged in it did maintain the battery pack temperature and we just got a very little Battery conditioning during the drive. This did not affect the range loss much, but the high speed and the continuous heating sure did. We almost lost as many miles as we actually drove.
