At least 10 people have reportedly died of hunger and related illnesses in Karamoja sub-region since the month began. Local leaders attribute the sad state of affairs on prolonged drought which dried up huge expanses crop gardens. State Minister for Disaster Preparedness Musa Ecweru told NTV that the ministry is aware of the problem and is mobilizing funds to intervene with food relief.
