This summer we went to São Miguel - an island part of the archipelago of the Azores, Portugal. When thinking of the Azores, it is impossible to not think of cetaceans as many species of dolphins and whales visit the waters frequently. The Azores has one of the highest cetacean biodiversity in the world and we were lucky enough to see both! We went out on the water on a RIB and we volunteered to sit in the front. What a great experience and something I would definitely recommend to others! Ofcourse it is good to remain cautious with ecotourism as we don't want to put any stress on the animals. Fortunately, the Azores has strict rules in place to minimise the negative effects. The dolphins really did seem to like our presence!
