Residents took advantage of the natural landscape and strategic geographic location and contributed to the creation, in the 13th century BC, of a strongly bureaucratic economic and administrative center under the control of a ruler of Mycenae. Current residents, descendants of the Mycaenean and institutions of a glorious past, welcome and provide services to thousands of tourists who visit the area.
