8. SOUNDBITE (English) Amber Jones, witnessed storm damage:
"We're doing okay. Thankfully, we prepped ahead of time. We have a generator. We got gas. We've got butane. Hardest part basically is keeping the kids entertained because a lot of their electronics won't work. But we're making it. We're making it. It's… some people have it a lot worse than we do. I'm grateful we have the generator and that we did prepare ahead of time because if we hadn't it could have been a lot worse."

"It was just hoping and praying that our lights didn't go out and eventually they did at 11 yesterday, and they're still out now and it's what about 3:30, 4 o'clock, and we still have no power."

16. SOUNDBITE (English) Latonya Woodson:
"You don't have heat. You don't have lights. You don't have things that you're used to. So that's the most difficult: not living as you normally do on a daily day."

STORYLINE:
On Sunday morning, Amber Jones watched a massive tree split the trailer next door in half, trapping her neighbor and a young child inside.
When the tree fell, Jones said she was outside inspecting damage to her husband's truck, which was struck by a falling limb on his way home that morning.
"It was scary there for a minute, not knowing if they were okay," Jones said, noting that she called 911. "Somehow I managed to stay calm."
Since that morning, Jones said she has spoken to her neighbor, who had been transported to the hospital and who Jones said had a compound fracture. The child was unharmed.
An electric pole and downed power lines littered the street near Jones' home, where the neighborhood has lost power. She said her family was prepared with a generator and heaters to keep them warm until power returns.
"I'm grateful we have the generator and that we did prepare ahead of time because if we hadn't it could have been a lot worse," Jones said.
A few miles away, in Vicksburg, Mississippi, Latonya Woodson was packing to go to her mother-in-law's home for a few days.
Woodson, her husband and 14-year-old grandson lost power Sunday at 11 a.m. As for Monday afternoon, the power was still off.
