The Canary Islands were a bucket list item for Steve; we were both very excited to visit Playa del Ingles as we heard it was a playground for European gays. We visited in January 2024 and yes, it did have a very lively gay scene, predominated by Germans with a good amount of Brits, French, (of course) Spanish, and to a lesser extent, other Europeans. Americans? I think we were the only ones, which is understandable as the Canaries are NOT easy to get to from the States.
The weather is really nice, in the upper 70's / low 80's down to the low 60's overnight, dry, sunny with (usually) a nice breeze. We discovered the westside of the island is stunning, the Eastside, OK, and the southern end (Playa del Ingles) where most tourists are, is also quite nice.
From our observations, the Gay visitors skewed predominantly retirees and unlike similar Gay vacation spots in the States (read: Wilton Manor, Fla- Palm Springs, Ca- Provincetown, Ma)...the energy was sedate, kind of boring.
