This is how I bypassed the rear window defroster that is know to short out on these trucks.
*Disclaimer - I'm not responsible if this doesn't work the same on your truck! Or if it damages your truck!*
A few people have told me that without the resistance of the rear window the wire feeding this could potentially get extremely hot, causing a fire or other issues.
Personally I haven't seen it happen from doing this.
After allot of online reading I was unable to come up with a better solution. Nobody had a direct answer on how this system or idea works, so I decided to try it anyways. I did read somewhere that there is an inline resistor that will prevent excessive heat in the wiring if you use this method.
In my reading I came to the conclusion that the reason the rear window shatters is due to a faulty connection where the window slides, and the heating element making an insufficient connection. This causes excessive heat, and the difference in temperature shatters the glass. Thus only the single panel directly behind the driver shatters due to this.
This is my first "how-to" video. I hope it's decent! Thanks for watching, feel free to leave any feedback or share your knowledge on the problem.
