Since 1985, the head curator of the Christian Dior Archives, Soizic Pfaff, has been building out the venerable house’s archive of dresses, hats, shoes, original swatches, and even sketches of the first collection hand drawn by Monsieur Dior.
Located off Avenue Montaigne in Paris, the archive is immaculately maintained. Its climate is kept at exact temperatures with controls for humidity and light. Closed off from the public at large, the archive exists for the study of Dior designers and their designs from the past up until present day.
On a late September day in 2017, Pfaff took Document on a tour of the rarely-seen space.
