Imagine a road that treats suspension like a joke, chews up tires, and tests your courage with every uneven step. When a jeep drives on it, it rattles your bones and tosses you around. Yet, in all this harshness, there is a strange beauty—an intoxicating thrill. Waterfalls cascading down the mountain slopes and distant peaks piercing the sky come together to paint a majestic, awe-inspiring portrait of nature.
Ratti Gali lake jeep track is the toughest in Neelum valley. It takes around 2.5 hrs to reach the base camp and then 40 minutes trekking up to the lake. Horses are available at cheap rates but the cabbies that carry horses are too ignorant to deal with. I recommend to trek to the lake instead of hiring a horse. For this, you need to be on time so that you may enjoy different views of the lake from all corners.
The best time to visit the lake is in the evening and the best months are from June to September. The lake is located at a height of 12500 feet above sea level and is the largest lake of Neelum valley.
Jeep rent from Dowarian to base camp: PKR 12000.
Camp for three persons: PKR 2000 per night.
