Something a bit different today! While I was away on business last week I had plenty of time on flights and in transit lounges to experiment (and learn some new nomenclature) with hydrostatic stability calculations. I made some custom features to import csv data from a Table of Offsets, construct and smooth curves, finish the hull form, then do a bunch of hull property extraction and stability calculation.
In the video you'll see a few tricks and tips that might be useful - how I use folders, variables, diagnostics... You'll see the importance of curve reapproximation (rebuild) and the implication on surface quality. I use Linear feature patterns for the win, yet again. And I'll talk about some of the Custom features I created for this little exercise.
Note, I'm an ME not a Naval Architect, so go easy on my inevitable blunders. I had fun though, so will happily take advice/course correction if necessary. Leave me a (constructive) comment.
Join me behind the scenes for another of my single-take rehearsals for demos that I am prepping for, test-driving new concepts, or generally practicing. Usually recorded late after all my normal work is done, you might enjoy some of the tips and tricks I hope to offer.
Повторяем попытку...
