The scales of the cuticle layer are made up from a special protein call keratin.
Overusing chemicals, heat and aggressive styling will chip away at these scales and when these scales eventually break off, the hair strand is left with holes and gaps.
Resulting in the hair being more susceptible to split ends and other non reversible damage.
Although; protein treatments are the number one way to remedy the holes and gaps in the hair strand, please understand that 👉 it’s just an illusion.
➡️ The only purpose of a protein treatment is to give the illusion of smother and stronger hair.
👉 Damage hair that’s treated with protein is still damaged hair and the effects from protein treatments are temporary.
Most protein treatments will wash away within a couple of wash days, similar to other hair products.
In order to experience optimal benefits from protein treatments, you must apply them to your hair on a continual basis.

Did your know that sebum production is controlled by hormones?
If you have a hormone imbalance you might under-produce or over-produce sebum, which can cause a number of conditions (for example: dandruff).
Yet, if your hormones are balanced and you have normal sebum levels to start with, you should be cautious of overusing oils or other products on your scalp.
➡️ Our bodies are created to sense whether our skin (aka our scalp) is hydrated or not. Research shows that when we overuse oils and greases, naturally our body would decrease the amount sebum it produces.
I know we have been trained that due to our curly texture, we have a "sebum underproduction issue," yet that's not true.
The truth is (if you don't have a hormone imbalance concern), our natural oils cannot benefit our strands... BUT ✅ our sebum can benefit our scalp if we don't overcompensate on products and maintain our health!
Unfortunately, we can’t really trick our bodies into over-performing.
Feel free to do your own research by googling more on "What Is Sebum and How Does Your Skin Produce It!"
Hope this helps, 💜
