Teaching your dog a "Go to mat" behavior is great for letting your dog where they need to station, until you give further direction. The mat helps "define" the rest area.
"Go to mat" is a practical behavior you can ask for while you are busy working at home, opening the door to gather your delivery.
You can also take this training on the road! You can teach your dog to go to their mat while you're in training class, having a picnic on the campsite, or at a restaurant or cafe.
