Make Your Own Virus Zapper

Описание: With the pandemic still on going, it is more important than ever to kill the viruses and bacteria that you may come in contact with each day.

Studies have shown that the average persons’ phone can have 10 times more bacteria than a toilet. They have also found more than 17,000 bacterial gene copies on the phones of high school students.

Touching things is unavoidable, and there are pathogens that we can pick up that could be harmful to us if we are not careful.

Some include MRSA, E. Coli, Streptococcus and the numerous coronaviruses out there included the most famous one right now COVID 19.

With this in mind, I wanted to find a way to destroy these viruses and bacteria that we come in contact with each day. Especially on things like our phones.

I could have easily have bought something from the store but I decided to see if I could build something that could work equally well while also being certain that it was for sure working.

The project is based on the Adafruit Circuit Playground Board. Coded in MakeCode.

Based on low cost UVC LEDs that are easy to find, I built working sterilisation box that worked in killing most of the bacterial sample in only a 3min exposure.

This project involves some basic soldering and 3d printing but can be easily done without any.

The parts were designed entirely in the free TINKERCAD.
