Sergeant John Mann (John Thaw) finds himself in a town in West Germany where the Queen's Own Scottish Regiment has been billeted. The location holds a dark history, having been taken by force by the British during the Second World War. Despite modern friendly overtures, old wounds resurface, and it isn't long before tensions boil over into violence.
Mann must navigate the delicate balance of military discipline and local hostility to keep the peace and find the truth behind the escalating brawls.
Originally broadcast in December 1964, "A Regiment of the Line" was written by Leon Griffiths, the legendary creator of Minder.
