Valisia LeKae and Rebecca Covington Webber perform for the 2020 BeautyCares DreamBall gala in support of the Look Good Feel Better Foundation. They perform "Count On Me," originally recorded by Whitney Houston & CeCe Winans.
Tony and Grammy nominated VALISIA LEKAE has performed in five Tony nominated Broadway shows including "The Threepenny Opera," "110 in the Shade," "Ragtime," "The Book of Mormon" and "Motown the Musical" where she played the lead role of Diana Ross. Valisia spent two years developing this role with Berry Gordy and the director, Charles Randolph Wright.
In 2013, she was named one of the "13 to Watch 2013" on EntertainmentWeekly.com. She won a 2013 Theatre World Award and was nominated for a 2013 Tony Award (Leading Actress in a Musical), Drama League Award and an Outer Critics Award. She was awarded a 2013 Triumph Award (NAN) and was on the 2013 "The Root 100" list. In 2013, she also received the "Accomplished Alumni Award" and in 2014 the "Alumni Promise Award" both from her alma mater, The University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
At the end of 2013, Valisia was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, just a few days after learning she had been nominated for a 2014 Grammy Award. Over the last couple of years, Valisia has used her voice to educate others about ovarian cancer, and in 2016 was honored as a Look Good Feel Better DreamGirl.
She has been honored by all three national ovarian cancer organizations and has worked with Stand Up To Cancer on numerous campaigns. She was also the spokesperson for the NOCC and has been the guest speaker for cancer organizations across the country as well as a guest speaker at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and Princeton University. Valisia serves on the advisory board for the Department of Psychology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her journey has been featured in Elle.com, Vogue.com, Vanity Fair Magazine, Essence Magazine, Parade Magazine, USA Today, NY Times and many other publications. In 2018, Valisia was honored by Thrive Causemetics with the "Thrive Award" and with that honor, one of their products (Valisia, Pomegranate Lip Liner ) was named after her. On June 15, 2018, Valisia's journey of "Becoming Diana" (backstage rituals) illustrated by Lila Ash was featured on Lena Dunham's LennyLetter.Com.
Valisia was featured on Tina's Wish.com in February 2019 for Black History Month. She was a guest speaker & performer at their Annual Benefit Dinner on Sept 26th, 2019. Tina's Wish is a non-profit ovarian cancer dedicated to research for the prevention and early detection of ovarian cancer.
REBECCA COVINGTON WEBBER can be seen in the third national tour of "Hamilton" which also stars her husband, Donald. She was also seen in the Broadway production of "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" where she played the role of Janelle Woods.
Rebecca's performances on Broadway also include Motown the Musical where she portrayed Gwen Gordy, Cindy Birdsong of The Supremes, Gladys Horton of The Marvelettes and many others! Rebecca was a part of the International and National tours of Beautiful the Carole King Musical, Mamma Mia, Ain’t Misbehavin, as well as Thoroughly Modern Millie. As a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association, she has also played some of her favorite roles in regional theaters across the U.S. including Nehebka in AIDA, Ronette in Little Shop of Horrors, Brenda in Smokey Joe’s Café and Charlayne in Ain’t Misbehavin. Originally from Lexington, Kentucky, Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Music from Belmont University in Tennessee and she now lives with her French Bulldog, Ella Frenchgerald, and her husband, Donald Webber, Jr.
