The Pinarayi Vijayan-led ruling LDF faces a challenge from the UDF, headed by Congress in the Kerala Assembly elections. The LDF was hoping that it will retain power without much sweat while banking on the government’s work during flood relief work in 2018 and 2019, followed by its response to Covid-19, all of which had won many over. However, a string of scams has weakened the LDF’s standing. To add to this, the BJP is going all out to woo voters, drawing in Metroman E Sreedharan into the electoral fray. The Sabarimala temple issue is also back on the cards, making this assembly election a tough outing for the LDF.
