With apologies for my poor camera work, here is a very beautiful arrangement and performance of the old Christmas carol, "Silent Night", performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Choral Society and the National Youth Choir of Great Britain. It was arranged by Rachel Portman, specially commissioned for the RAH Christmas concerts. The conductor is Richard Cooke. Performance date: 22 December 2024.
The absolutely stunning venue is (of course) the Royal Albert Hall, London. The Master of Ceremonies, Greg Beardsell, asked us all to turn on the light of our smartphones for this carol, as if candles, and the combined effect was truly magical. Tears, inevitably.
