This webinar was presented on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.
While the criteria for diagnosing celiac disease are well defined, there is a surprising lack of specific “best practice” guidelines for monitoring patients with established celiac disease. Luca Elli, MD, Chief of the Center for the Prevention and Diagnosis of Celiac Disease, Milan, Italy, and lead author of the recently developed evidence-based monitoring guidelines, and Maureen Leonard, MD, MMSc, Clinical Director of the Center for Celiac Research and Treatment at Mass General for Children, outlined the current treatment approach for both pediatrics and adults and shed light on what still remains to be understood. Anne R. Lee, EdD, RD, LDN, lead author of a recently published article on nutrition assessment of the patient with celiac disease, shared how to assess and monitor adherence to the gluten-free diet for the best possible health outcome.
Ciaran Kelly, MD, Medical Director of the Celiac Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, served as moderator for the seminar. Chris Rich, executive director of the National Celiac Association, opened and closed the webinar. A Q&A session followed the presentations.
