When jamming a couple of days ago I was asked to make a video of this technique, wich I by no means have mastered or invented (se M. Garrison for more extensive info).
I´ve arranged the main bass figure as played by Jaco to fit the thumb-first-second-third finger order. I´ve also arranged it to an even number of notes per string to make it as easy as possible. Of course one should be able to divide any number of notes between strings to avoid letting the technique dictate the music. When practicing this technique I would strongly suggest playing with a drummer or to a metronome. Good timing is everything!
