Option 1 - Piston Version: This single dose hopper includes a low profile piston with food-safe PTFE O-rings to create a seal with the hopper and fully purge your grinder of any retention, at an affordable price. The piston is weighted to give it a quality feel and to press the beans into the grinder and prevent "popcorning." This is essential for consistent grind quality, and is a feature nearly all other single dose hoppers lack.

Option 2 - Plunger and Squeeze Bulb Version: This single dose hopper includes a food grade silicone squeeze bulb to fully purge your grinder of any retention, at an affordable price. The squeeze bulb is integrated with a plunger to evenly press the beans into the grinder and prevent "popcorning." This is essential for consistent grind quality, and is a feature nearly all other single dose hoppers lack. In addition, the silicone squeeze bulb is superior to 3D printed versions as it can take thousands of pumps without breaking or cracking. The 3D printed versions are made from TPU plastic – this material is hygroscopic, meaning that it will slowly absorb moisture from its surroundings, degrading over time.

The single dose hopper perfectly integrates with your Breville / Sage Barista Express, Pro, or Touch using an engineered locking ring to secure the hopper in place. A rubber O-ring ensures an air-tight seal for optimized purging of your grinder. The hopper is sized to easily accept 22+ gram doses. To install the Single Dose Hopper onto your machine:

1. Remove the original hopper from your machine and clean all old beans and grounds from the grinder. A vacuum cleaner works best. It is essential that the grinder inlet is free from all beans and grounds to ensure a secure fit. Note: Do not use water to clean the grinder as this can rust your grinder burrs.

2. Insert the orange locking ring by aligning the tabs with the slots in your grinder inlet. Ensure that the hopper (black or silver part) is not connected to the orange locking ring at this time. Push the locking ring down firmly to ensure it is fully inset.

3. Insert the hopper (black or silver part) into the orange locking ring by aligning the tabs with the slots in the locking ring. Press down to ensure the hopper is fully inserted. Next, twist the hopper clockwise until you feel a click and the hopper will not twist any further. Note that this may require some force as the locking mechanism and O-ring seal. Applying an upward force (pull the hopper up) while twisting should make it easier. It is important to ensure the hopper is correctly installed to engage the safety pin that allows the grinder to operate. To use the Single Dose Hopper:

1. Measure out your dose and dump the beans into the hopper. Insert the piston.

2. Press the grinder trigger to begin grinding. Apply light force to the piston if needed as the beans are ground to prevent the beans from "popcorning."

3. Once all the beans are ground, give the piston a few pumps to purge your grinder. Note that this works best while the grinder is spinning; restart the grinder if it has stopped. You can also adjust the grind time to ensure all beans are ground and there is extra time to purge the grinder.
