The sounds of laughter and mahjong tiles fill the air, as people catch up on gossip and share news from the wider world.

Winter is also a time for festivals and celebrations, like the Lunar New Year (Chun Jie), when families come together to honor their ancestors, exchange gifts, and feast on traditional dishes like niang pi (glutinous rice cake) and hong shao rou (red-braised pork).

Despite the cold, rural life in winter has a special charm, with snow-dusted landscapes, frozen rivers, and a sense of community and warmth that comes from gathering together with loved ones.

We cook some delicious meals like beans jelly, stir fry enoki mushroom with hotpot balls, fermenting a radish, dumplings, soup and other dishes. We went to market with neighbor and bought some meat and vegetables. You will know the price of meat and veggies. We also make a cover of our door to lessen the cold temperature.
