This GibbsCAM Tech Tip shows you how to use the Profiler to identify and machine wrapped features on a solid model without having to extract or unwrap geometry.
Extracting and unwrapping geometry to create a cylindrical toolpath can be confusing and cumbersome. But using GibbsCAM’s Profiler in Slice Cylinder mode is an easy way to create a toolpath to cut open and closed cylindrical cams, slots, and pockets, as well as other polar and cylindrical toolpaths. This type of toolpath, sometimes called axis substitution, keeps the cutting tool centered on the rotary axis and requires no extracted geometry from the solid.
