At the Kentucky 2A Championships State Girls Basketball Tournament in Owensboro this morning, Calloway County improved 19-0 on the season with an easy 62-27 win by way of running-clock knockout over Nelson County.
Calloway had control of this game from the opening tip, scoring the first 10 points and cruising to the win from there. The Lady Lakers achieved the running clock with about five minutes remaining in the third quarter.
The morning was highlighted by history as senior forward Sayler Lowe set a new all-time career scoring record for the Lady Laker program, breaking the previous mark of 2,789 points by Charlee Settle.
Calloway is in its third straight appearance in this event and is making its second appearance in a row to the Final Four. The Lady Lakers will play at 4 Saturday afternoon.
