One of my top hacks for cold & #fluseason!
If you feel something coming on, try this easy trick. 🧦
I learned this from my naturopathic doctor friends and have been doing it for years. It seems odd but seriously works!
The DIY treatment is a form of hydrotherapy and a way to naturally stimulate the immune system. ♨️
Wearing wet socks to bed allows your body to work during the night to warm your feet and dry the socks out. In order to do this, your body increases circulation to the feet which helps to decrease congestion in the head and chest.
Although the treatment is cold, it’s known as a “heating compress” because it’s up to the body to heat the cold, wet socks.
1. Make sure you’re warmed up before you go to bed with this treatment (a hot bath or shower) and then dress warmly in sweats.
2. Soak the white (please don’t ask me why the recommendation is white. I don’t know) cotton socks thoroughly in water and ring them out
3. Put on the wet socks
4. Put on a pair of dry wool socks overtop
5. Go to bed / wear overnight and let your body do it’s thing
By the way, you don’t feel the wetness once those wool socks are on!
Note: don’t do this treatment / speak with your doctor if you:
Are pregnant, have a fever, are chilled or have a low body temperature, have a skin condition that’s aggravated by prolonged moist applications.
