The HIP BRIDGE is one of my FAVORITE exercises, but it MUST BE DONE WELL in order for neuroplastic learning and change to take place between your brain and glutes.
Here are some Keys for success:
place your feet directly under your knees
lift from your hips
avoid arching your low back
keep your abs pulled down
NOTE: IF YOUR HAMSTRINGS CRAMP: move your feet closer to you. This exercise is a FANTASTIC POSTERIOR CHAIN builder.
IF YOUR LOW BACK HURTS: you are likely lifting up to high. Concentrate on squeezing your glutes. They will stop you when they are fully contracted and will prevent low back pain
.
Improving the strength of your posterior chain will improve:
Foot drop
low back pain
hip flexor strength
balance
standing upright
fall prevention
This is a game changing drill.
Practice this often and correctly.
