Khanom Jeen, Mohinga, Bun Cha, and More: Retracing History Through Rice Noodles

Описание: How is it possible that a unique form of rice noodle shows up in ancient history in rival kingdoms far and wide, the ancestors of what would become some of Asia's greatest empires? How did this dish seemingly evolve in a vacuum thousands of miles apart and even across an ocean?

By following the appearance of these noodles, we chase this history from Thai Green Curry to Burmese Mohinga to Vietnamese Bun Cha, to Sri Lankan String Hoppers and Chinese Mi Fen. And the common link bonding all of these unique specialties is an ethnic group almost forgotten by history, but the single most important civilization to arrive in ancient Southeast Asia.
